Pro Tip

“The surface temperatures of mineral-based countertops will always be cooler to the touch compared to that of a wood surface like a cutting board because the emissivity between wood and mineral solids is extreme.

What does this mean for your cutting board?

The ambient air temperature around your cutting board laying on top of your countertop will be warmer than the surface of countertop itself. Over time, this ongoing temperature difference will begin to cause your board to possibly fracture or crack. No amount of conditioning oil will prevent this as these are not related phenomena.

To prevent: Depending on which Cotton and Dust model you have, prop it up on its side. Try pushing it up against your backsplash. If its a larger model use the included removable rubber feet to suspend the board up from the countertops surface.
